12 & Under Programs

All prospective Sea Devils’ must attend a New Swimmer Evaluation Session to receive the proper program recommendation and ensure that they demonstrate the required skills necessary to participate.

Age Group 1

Recommended primarily for 8 & under, 9-month program Sept-May; the emphasis in this group is teaching and reinforcing proper fundamentals and techniques. Proficiency in the four competitive strokes, starts, and turns is stressed. To be eligible for this level, swimmers must be capable of confidently swimming the length of the pool (25 yards) using freestyle with side breathing and backstroke without stopping or assistance. Swimmers should also be familiar with but do not need to be proficient in breaststroke and/or butterfly.

Practice time: 1 hour practice twice a week during the weekdays

Age Group 2

Recommended primarily for 10 & under, 9 month program Sept-May; There is a continued emphasis in teaching and reinforcing proper fundamentals and techniques. Age Group 2 offers a bridge between learning the fundamentals and more structured training with an introduction to pace clock use and shorter distance sets. To be eligible for this level, swimmers must be proficient in freestyle and backstroke for a distance of 50 yards and either breaststroke or butterfly for distances of at least 25 yards.

Practice time: 1 hour practice twice a week during the weekdays

Age Group 3

Recommended for 9-12 years old, 9 month program Sept-May; This group allows a slightly intensified practice environment for an experienced young swimmer or a rapidly advancing athlete. Fundamentals remain the priority emphasis. To be eligible for this level, swimmers must be legal in three of the four competitive strokes for a minimum of 50 yards and legal in the fourth stroke for a minimum of 25 yards.

Practice time: 1 hour practice three times a week during the weekdays.
